Born and raised in the Bronx, Selenis Leyva is an actress of Cuban-Dominican descent, best known for her role as Gloria Mendoza in the Netflix series “Orange Is The New Black,” and currently starring on the Disney+ series “Diary of a Future President.” On this episode, Laura and Pablo talk to Selenis about Latin representation in the media, learning to be her authentic self while breaking barriers in Hollywood, and co-writing the memoir “My Sister”, about her sibling Marizol’s transitioning, taking control of their gender and sexual identities, and how it transformed them both.
